You can browse through the local companies by category or in the “Your Local Shops” directory or alternatively by typing the business / product in the search boxes.

Find something you like? Then you can purchase directly through Appleby Avenue with the localcompany.

Any questions on products or services, then send the local company a message through Appleby Avenue or engage with them directly using the contact details.

Offers / Discounts

Check out the individual local businesses ‘About us’ section to see Appleby Avenue customers
offers/ discounts.

Do I pay postage and packaging or collection costs?

Postage and packaging services will be displayed when making a purchase in the basket. Customers are also welcomed to collect products through arrangement with the local business.

Can I purchase products from multiple local businesses?

Yes. Appleby Avenue enables customers to add various products from multiple businesses in one purchase.

How do I return an item and receive a refund?

Return and refund of items have to be discussed directly with the local business. Appleby Avenue takes no responsibility for the return or process of refunds.

Can I buy a gift card?

At this juncture Appleby Avenue do not offer gift card services, however, please ask local businesses directly if they do offer gift cards.

I have a question about a product or service, how do I ask it?

Please contact the local business through Appleby Avenue or directly for any questions regarding products or services.

How di I keep up to date with the Appleby Avenue community?

Companies

Local businesses can register and be a part of a local directory (“Your Local Shops”) to increase awareness of your business. Whether you’re a new small business or a long-established business, Appleby Avenue is a stepping stone to increase your business awareness to old, new and future customers.

When registering there are two options you can choose from which are “Services only” or “Services and Products”. Select one of the options and complete the registration form. Once submitted, someone from Appleby Avenue will be in touch to onboard and complete your registration process.

Once registered you will have your own “Shop” dashboard where you can add/ edit your business information – you’re in control!

If you have your own business website and social media links these can be added to your business profile.

If you have selected “Services and Products” you can upload products for sale into your “Shop” for customers to see and purchase.

Do I need a business website?

No, you don’t need a business website. The local business directory (“Your Local Shops”) enables customers to directly contact you with any questions they may have.

Do I have to sell products?

No, you don’t have to sell products to be a part of the Appleby Avenue community, local businesses that provide Services can be a part of the directory which can be found under “Your Local Shops”.

If you would like to sell products in the future this functionality can be added to your account at any time. Please get in touch to find out more.

How many products can I sell in my “Shop”?

Local businesses currently can have unlimited products displayed within their individual “Shop”. All product listings must comply with all applicable laws and regulations including Trading Standards.

It is the local business’ responsibility to ensure all such legal requirement are complied with.

Are there any prohibited products that cannot be sold or advertised on Appleby Avenue?

Yes, the below product list is a guide and subject to change and is not limited to the following items  which cannot be sold or advertised on Appleby Avenue and are strictly prohibited:

 Any medication or drugs, drug paraphernalia and dietary supplements or any related items
 Food & Beverages including Alcohol
 Animals and animal products (including pet food)
 Car & Motorbikes (including parts)
 Clothing
 Cosmetics / Make-up
 Currency, coins of cash equivalents including Gift Cards
 Electronics including Medical Devices
 Gambling & Lottery including Scratch Cards
 Hazardous and Dangerous Items
 Offensive and Controversial Items / Materials
 Sex and Sex Items
 Tobacco, E-Cigarettes including Related Products
 Weapons

The above list is subject to change. Any attempt to sell or advertise prohibited products will result in immediate account deactivation either temporary or permanently. Appleby Avenue reserves the right to remove any listing it considers inappropriate for any reason.

Offers / Discounts

Local businesses can incentivise customers by providing details of offers/ discounts to customers who are a part of the Appleby Avenue community. Appleby Avenue offers can be detailed within the ‘About us’ section of the local business page.

As an option, local businesses could choose to also advertise one-off “Business News or Offer updates” to Appleby Avenue customers. Please get in touch to find out more.

Charities and Support Organisations

We want to increase awareness of our local Charities and Support Organisations, register now and increase awareness. We don’t charge Charities or Support Organisations to be in the business directory.

What makes Appleby Avenue different?

Appleby Avenue provides a convenient platform for customers to browse and be introduced to new businesses. For the businesses, Appleby Avenue provides a local advertising platform to increase awareness of and to encourage a culture to shop local first.

This is the only online website that brings all of these elements together!

Do you charge commission on sales?

No. The principle is to support local businesses by increasing customer awareness of local products / services businesses without commission. This enables customers to have a more personalised experience from the local business.

Can I make suggestions for the website?

Absolutely! Simply fill out the form on the ‘Contact us’ link.

How much does it cost?

For Customers, registration is FREE! Purchases or services are made directly with the local business.

You just need register, confirm your email address and shop away!

For local businesses registration to join our community is currently FREE! In the future, Appleby Avenue will offer a subscription and flexible advertising options to local businesses.

For local charities, this registration in the “Your Local Shops” directory is FREE. With so many local charities and support services available to the Aberdeen and Shire community, we want to increase the awareness of these to everyone as you play a very important part to our region!

Is my personal data secure?

Yes, we have an SSL certificate in place. We do not store any banking details as purchases are directly between the local business and customer.
